The Willows of Sinkevista
A lake near me has these 2 beauties beside it. They look like they are in a relationship.

The house on the square
I’m glad I painted this scene from our village because since then the house has since been demolished..

St. Anne's Wells.
Brighton in the spring. Hove, actually.

The Neighbours
The view from our house one spring morning.
$900
Cagnes-sur-mer
this was a scene in a film called Renoir. Beautifully photographed in the south of France. I sometimes make a painting from a snap from the TV screen.
$600
Mama Vesey's barn.
I have painted this scene many times. I think this is the most successful.
NFS
Mama Vesey's barn. 2
a more involved version.. such fun to paint.

Mama Vesey's barn. 3
Here it is again. Since painting these they have replaced the plotchi roof of the barn on the right , and it has lost all it’s period charm. In case you are interested.. the heavy stone roofs are supported by thick oak beams. When the roof starts to deteriorate there are no longer the oak beams, or the expertise , , to repair them without spending a lot of money. So they are slowly disappearing.
$900
Tranito barn
A simple sketch of an interesting barn in the next village. It came out rather well and is a permanent feature on our kitchen wall.
NFS
Rosannas goat.
I have always like the watercolors of Andrew Wyeth, and this is very much a homage to him. The goat was a regular character in our village.. He ended up in the freezer. Country life.
$800
Lillianas
As we have a lot of snow here it is necessary to acknowledge that now and again. It is enjoyable to paint in line and wash and relatively quick as lots of the white paper is left unpainted.
$500
Stork letterbox
Whoever owned this house had a passion for garden ornaments ( quite popular in these parts).which included a letterbox with a stork on it.
$500
Wyeth's tree.
In an attempt to improve my watercolors, I have copied a few of Andy’s over the years. It’s nice to have them on the wall for a while.
$600
Zimni idva
The title means “winter is coming” in Bulgarian. It shows Stefan with Ivan the donkey collecting wood for winter. Where we live, the winter wood is hugely important. Impossible to relax until one has enough to last.
$900
The road through Tranito
We pass this scene every time we leave our house and I always enjoy seeing the exposed wattle and daub. So much to paint if one likes one’s watercolors!
$1100
Barn by the stream
In homage to Wyeth I decided to try and work in egg tempera.. I liked the idea of being able to scrape of the paint to portray the winter textures. I was quite pleased with this one but my egg tempera days were soon to finish.
$800
Barn by the stream. 2
Same barn as the previous image. So pretty in the winter sun. These scenes deserve painting, at least once.
$400
Birch bough
Another copy of a Wyeth.. fairly accurate this one . Such a simple scene with such a lot of atmosphere. Bravo Andy!
$600
Ivan at Rios
Ivan the donkey tethered to our neighbors barn. A very Bulgarian scene which seems to be disappearing . Since we have been here the amount of livestock in the area has decreased enormously. Only chickens remain .
$400
Petco's barn
I had to paint this barn. It’s a real classic. The downstairs has 4 entrances to 4 rooms. One for each type of livestock. The upstairs was the living space for the owner. A watercolorists dream subject.
$1200
Mama Vesey's barn. 5
a simple line and wash. Great fun to paint.
$200
Misho's
classic Bulgarian scene. A present for the owners. They were the first locals to welcome us into their home despite the language barrier. Still our very good friends.

Mama Vesey's barn 6
couldn’t stop painting this at one point. Another quick sketch in line and wash.
